A Product Photography Shot List for Marketplace Listings

Photos do much of the selling on a marketplace. A repeatable shot list helps you produce a complete, consistent set of images for every product without improvising each time.

The main image

Follow the marketplace's rules: usually a clean background, the product filling most of the frame, no watermarks or promotional text. This image appears in search results, so make it clear and sharp.

A standard set of six to nine images

  1. Front view. The product straight on.
  2. Alternate angles. Side, back and top views, so buyers see all sides.
  3. Detail shots. Close-ups of materials, stitching, ports or labels that justify the price.
  4. Scale reference. The product next to a common object, or in a hand, so size is obvious.
  5. In-use photo. The product in a realistic setting, which helps buyers imagine owning it.
  6. Feature graphic. A simple infographic that highlights two or three key benefits, when the marketplace allows it.
  7. Size or dimension chart. Make it readable on a phone screen.
  8. Packaging and contents. Show what is included in the box to reduce "not as expected" returns.
  9. Variants. Each colour or size in its own image.

Technical basics

Avoid claims you cannot support

Do not add badges such as "best seller" or "certified" unless they are true and allowed. Images that show features the product does not have will increase returns and complaints.

Review the results

After publishing, compare click-through and conversion before and after you update images. For image and design tools, see the Facebook520 tool directory, and read the AI tool policy page when you use AI to edit or generate pictures.
